I haven't been to Sturgis yet but I'm planning to go there next year. Do we have any XJ Sturgis goers here? If so, what should I expect?

The Black Hills are great for biking. I went to the Sport-Touring.net national meet in 2003 and we sampled some great roads and had a ball. The nice thing was that it was 2 months before the hoodlums arrived. I would like to go sometime just to see the spectacle though. If only to say that I did.

Ya, I'd like to visit Strugis during the busy time so I can see what the fuss is all about. Hopefully I can go next year. I've never been in the Badlands so I'm pretty excited about the whole trip.

i spent the summer of '86 in the black hills. saw it all, sturgis is great but dont go just the rally the real entertainment is getting your bike on Iron Mountain Road. it runs south out of Keystone. In ten miles there are 5 switchbacks and 3 pigtails and one section where the trees are too close to put a road thru so they split it and its one lane runs thru the trees and the other lane runs off thru a different way. and dont forget to slow down for the one lane tunnels...

over all i think everone should see it once.

I've been there many times, but never on bike. My grandparents live in Rapid City, in fact, we were just there this past summer the week after Sturgis. Very beautiful area. The rest of South Dakota is kind of boring IMO, but in the Rapid City/Black Hills area there's enough to keep you busy for a long time! I'd love to ride mine out there, but it'll be quite a bit harder now with a baby on the way... :D
