got tips for re-stretching the cover on a seat?

my seat has worn and look like crap and i would like to get it to fit a little better

would it be hard to add a little foam while i am in there?

I sent mine out to be done by professionals (which I am not) for not much more than the price of a new cover with shipping.

I WAS going to buy a new cover for like $79+shipping but I got the seat done for $119, shipped.

It was done by these folks: http://www.sargentcycle.com/custserv.htm
and they did a great job. Woulda been under $100 except I had them add the red welt.

It's not hard, just needs to be warm when you stretch the new cover on. Don't try it when it'd cold the material won't stretch. Take the seat and new cover inside to warm up. Most seat covers come with good instructions to tell you how to install it. The last one I got came from Old Bike Barn, great product at a great price. Easy to install also.

+1 on Mark's comments. I have done it several times. You may find adding some foam will make the cover not fit properly. You can add some but not much.

I actually scooped 1 to 2 inches out of mine. I like the way it looks better and there is still plenty of foam for comfort.

Did mine myself too. Found a NOS cover from eBay for $29. As mentioned, just make sure it's warm to keep the material pliable. And make sure you use a staple gun with enough power. The staples are short (1/4 or 5/16 I cant remember) but my first gun would just deform them.

I did my cover, but think that I waited to long. The bike was out in the rain with PO and when I first got it. I think the foam has started to fail. Any one ever redo all the foam?
