Very nice 650 on Ebay

Thought this was a v nice looking XJ 650 - but the description makes it pretty hard to find !!

That bike has been in a significant wreck.
Notice how most the pix are from the left side?
That's because there's a HUGE crease in the right side of the tank.
And look at the pix from behind. The silver and blue body work is severly askew.
And there's no front fender.
And a small dent even on the left side of tank.
And it even appears to be leaking oil while it's sitting there being photograped. See the drops of oil on the stone?

You need to run from this. The most intriguing part of this listing is the humor he used in the text.

I'm left in doubt that the seller of that bike even owns the property he's listing it on. There's nothing stopping anyone from rolling a POS onto a rich guy's construction site, while no one is around, snapping a few pix and then sneaking off.
I'm just saying that it would be rare for a guy with the kind of brick to put in a pool like that in a place like that to even OWN a bike in that poor condition, let alone claim that he's hurting enough to have to sell a bike in this poor condition to be able to plant a couple flowers. Doesn't add up.

I could be totally wrong about that suspicion, but not about the condition of the bike, which raises said suspicion in the first place.

Unless you're looking for a parts bike, i'd look elsewhere...

Caveat Emptor
This points out the dangers of buying without seeing on Ebay, you are right hammerhead about the tank and the fact that it is lopsided, and lopsided seat and missing TS lens... I am the kind of guy that would buy for parts, and a 22k miles engine and reasonable exhaust,seat, sidepanels, and so on might be worth a few hundred bucks, but not much more than that.... what does "DOWNT TO 5TH AVE. AND MAKE THE MONEY AND ALL" - mean though?

 

I was under the impression he was asking his wife to whore herself out to pay for the landscaping.

It's too bad you can't contact the buyer. I'd encourage them to contact the seller and ask a few more questions if they hadn't already....
