My petcock is squirting gas (no pun intended) when I rev it. Is there an "O" ring or gasket or something that needs to be replaced. I tried tightening the screws. This did not help.

    Thanks,
    Chris KQ6UP

Hey Chris......never a good thing. Drop me a PM and let me know what kind of bike you have; I have all the rebuild parts or complete replacement petcocks, on-off valves, filters, fuel lines, etc. available for these bikes.

I pulled it apart, and it looked like the gas was leaking past the diaphragm/gasket out through the orifice (this orifice allows atmospheric pressure in to push against the diaphragm causing the valve to open). It looks like it sucked the rubber into the groove of the orifice. I rotated the diaphragm 90 degrees since it still looked like it was in good shape, and put the petcock back together. Viola! -- it worked. It is also doing its job not allowing gas to flow. :D

    Thanks,
    Chris KQ6UP

Wow, I should pull mine apart too and check it since i think the same thing might have happened. I was a little hesitant to dismantle it but it sounds pretty easy! Thanks kq.

    Where are you from btw?

Pet(edited)???? Think maybe they have the old electronic snoop software screwed down a little too tight?
