    I was surfing the net for attitional info on my XJ650 and came across the web page "http://www.maxim-x.com/pictures.html" - Man...going through the pics - what beauties! All of them with bling to die for! :twisted:

    I'm just not a huge fan of the way the Maxim looks. Is the X a special model?

    You know, that's really interesting.

    The Maxim/Maxim-X appears to be the beginning of the "Metric Cruiser" class of bike, which eventually led to the V-Star, Roadliner, Raider, Warrior, etc.

    The Seca variant of the same bike appears to have led to the fetal position crotch rocket. At their root, around 1981, they were both very similar looking and they branched out from there.

    Or maybe I'm just full of s---t?

    Have a look at the 1979 movie "Mad Max".

    There are guys riding 1000cc bikes with bubble windshields.

    I believe the fetal position option pre-dates the XJ motorcycle.

    I would say somewhat special.
    the biggest difference between the maxim and the maxim-x is the 700/750 5 valve watercooled engine. i'm sure there are other differences, mostly aesthetic, but the engine is what most notice first i think.

    I saw that yellow one on the road last year right after i bought my xj it looks better in person not really my style but very nice bike! I prefer the stock look or the the cafe style. but I'll keep my stock it's easier on my back!
