Calling All XJ Members in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Dakotas all are welcome. If you are in the area let me know if you are interested in getting togeather for a carb clinic. I can host and we have a heated shop space with compressed air. Lets get togeather and dial our carbs in and have alittle fun doing it. If everyone can't make a date we could do two sessions if needed. Please let me know so we can set dates

    Thanks

I was planning on doing my carbs and valves this winter anyways, so this is perfect for me.

Hi Mn Maxim,I don't need carb help but wouldn't mind a midwinter get together. I recently got a 650 seca as my latest project and would love to talk about these and other bikes. Guzzi John-Champlin

MN- Maxim, I could really use the help with my carbs I plan on taking a wack at them this winter. And me as a first timer could really benefit from the experience. Let me know what I would need to bring along. Most Saturdays would work for me :?

my carbs maybe need a cleaning but my biggest deal right now is it not getting spark. and everything seems to check out fine. could maybe be the pickups or the ignition module. but its so dang cold i havnt been able to work on it since fall. so i suppose if anybody wanted to help me figure it out at the meet i'd be down. or sometime in the spring

Hi,just thought I'd check in and let you know the engine is in my Seca and nearly ready to run. I did pull the bottom off to check that chain guide. All was fine but a little dirty so I had a chance to clean it up before reassembly. I had to do some revamping as the Seca only has rubber mounts in the back-but no biggie. All the parts look great so it should run a long time. I'll keep a look out to see if you do have a gathering in March. Guzzi John-Champlin,Mn

I will be working on two sets of carbs this week. If anyone wants to stop by and look over my shoulder you are welcome. Cleaning is all done so I will be working on puting back togeather, adjusting float levels and bench sync. The one set is going back on the bike I have on my lift. So I will fire that one up and sync it in.

    Hey Ron and everyone.

Sorry for not responding to any posts, IM's etc. I was in denial about not being able to ride.

And, getting laid off in August. Dang economy!!

Well, with the weather being what it was on Monday, I got the bikes out of the garage and decided to spin the thing over. After a little go juice (butane) that lovely XJ750 motor purred to life.

The bike runs real good, but, I am sure that it could even better.

So, if there is a carb clinic coming up, let me know. I would love to get the thing running smoother.

I am going to get a new rear tire this Sunday for the rear. Thank goodness for Craigs List.

I still plan on doing some carb work in my shop in the AM. Let me know if anyone would like to pop over and check out some carb shaft seal installation on some 1100 carbs. I'm getting that 1100 ready to roll out of here soon. Soon the weather will be warmer and we can do more stuff outside.

I'm definitely up for a Minnesota/Twin Cities area carb clinic, since I know mine desparately need to be cleaned and adjusted.

If we can shoot for setting one up the weekend of the 25th/26th or later, that would work perfectly for me, since I'm already booked next weekend.

    Carb Clinic went great today.
One Member got his 550 Mukuni's apart and cleaned. Parts will be on order. Myself I got a good start on putting my Hatachi's back togeather for one of my 750's. Another member stopped by with his 86 Maxim X (Way Cool Mint Condition Bike) and hung out for awhile and checked out what we had going on.
Any members what to stop in and see the assembly of the carbs we are working on feel free to PM me and I can let you know when we are working again. The parts won't get here untill later this week. Kyrrinstoch will be posting pictures of the assembly of the Mukuni carbs for sure.
For those who need to do their carbs we can set up another date, just let me know.

    Ron,
So you's guys had a good day then? I was watching the weather (we had rain here in the AM) and it just didn't look too good for riding. But by around 10 the sun came out and it turned to be a pretty good day. We got stuff done anyways.
I came home later this afternoon and rode a bit and it turned out to be a fairly nice day to ride. I guess if I'd been around early enough I would've rode down there and shot the bull with ya.
Oh well, next time I guess. Let me know when you getting together again and I'll try to make it then. Dave >PD<

id like to make the next one maybe too. Maybe I could bring the bike and see If you can help me diagnose my spark problem if I cant by then. Everything checks out, turns over with lots of power, gas in the carbs/cylinders. I haven't looked at the pickups yet but i think I might wed.

I'd like to see the write-up on the 550 carbs too, thatd help me for sure.

now that I got my bike running(kinda) It will need a good carb rebuild/cleaning So I'm down to make it to the next one you guys have. Would it be a good idea to bring the whole bike, or could I get away with just brining the carbs?

    Mm-Maxim,
Sorry I couldn't make it yesterday. I ended up tearing the entire front end off the bike (wheel, forks, etc.) and re-doing some of my wiring that needed some attention. I figured as long as I'm working on it I might add the fork boots I bought a couple weeks ago (just for the hell of it) and a pair of LED driving lights I want to try out.
About the time I was ready to take it out for a short ride, it was raining here. Hope to see you next weekend! >PD<
