'85 XJ700 for sale --- SOLD

    All right guys, I hate to do it, but I've got to sell:

    1985 Yamaha XJ700 Maxim

    In great condition
    Black
    All original, including paint
    Only 14,700 miles
    Garage kept
    Clear title
    Saddle bags
    Original tool kit
    New tires 2 years and less than 1000 miles ago
    Never dropped
    I've owned it since 1994. I bought it with 3200 miles. It's been my 2nd bike since 2000 - that's the reason for the low miles.

    Located in Chicago

    $2250 or best

    Sell the Infiniti and your wife, keep the bike...it's the wrong time of year anyway. THAT bike, in that condition, will be hard to duplicate...ever.

    Uh...I couldn't make an offer on the wife sight unseen.

    Seriously though,

    What a great looking bike...I'd consider it if Chicago and Raleigh weren't so far apart. It's interesting...I've never viewed a Maxim XJ700 up close but it appears that aside from the engine there are many many parts in common with my Maxim-X. Makes me feel better about finding parts.

    I really hate to have to sell it. It's such a fun bike to ride. And with the condition it's in, I probably wouldn't have a problem selling it in the spring for this asking price or more. If I manage to land a job in a short while, then I'm just going to take it off the market - anybody hiring?

    With the couple day warm-up here in Chicago and the cycle show being this weekend, I put her back on Craigslist. I've already got a solid offer of $1800. Any opinions on whether I should take it, or hold out for more? Any one want to make a better offer?

    $1800? I'd have to *really* need the money to sell that bike for $1800. Especially with spring just around the corner...
