Hi well I cleaned the carbs again and things are looking brighter. Now I went to put a clutch cable I got from ebay on and it appears to be identical to my original just an inch or so shorter and the throw of the cable is a shorter also, Is the Seca and Maxim different ? Will any other cables from other xs400's or other maxims work for me. The original has worn the lead lead bulb off at the engine end and I am not sure if you can some how repair that, does anyone have any suggestions?

yep seca's are a tad shorter. Not good. Get the right cable...try bikebandit.com...I tried a seca throttle cable and the butterflies on the carbs would stay open because of the shorter cable. Not good and scary when started...VROOOOOOM!

chacal carries cables and they're not expensive. If you give him the measurements of your original cable he can match it if you don't have or aren't confident with your part number. He helped me figure out which clutch cable to use with lower bars on my Secas.

    lmt,

I wouldn't find having a spare for my Seca. How much do you need for it?
