So I have got a trip coming up and wanted to know if any of you know of any earbud or any other motorcycle designed head phones? Please share any tequinecs you have to eliminate wind noise AND put tunes in your head. I know wearing headphones (stereo, one on each ear) is illegal in mosts states. Im not debating that. Im just looking for some headphones.
thanx in advanced for you help

Depending on the helmet you have, you can use a chatterbox unit that will allow to plug in you mp3 player or whatever you are using.

I like to wear them for long rides - the trick I find is to get the kind that go into your ear to seal out the outside noise. Two reasons:
    1 - you can actually hear the music without needing to have it louder than the surrounding noise;
2 - when you don't have music on, they work like ear plugs to help protect your hearing

There are many "canal phones" types out there now, and I'm going to try a couple of the cheaper ones this summer. Like these:

    Or these:

However the only ones I've consistently heard good things about have been the Shure E3C's... but I can't justify dropping that kind of cash on earbuds unless I KNOW they're worth it.

Don't get the Bose ones. I have a pair. Nice but the sound of the bike and other outside noises totally drowns out the music. I'm thinking of having my buddy set up a speaker system on my handlebars like he set up on his. 150 watts for like $200 or so. 4" speakers in cheome housings and all.

i use some i got from best buy for $30 they are made by sony and have three different sized rubber inserts to fit your ear canal and they also have removable hooks that go around behind your ear to hold them in place. also three sizes of those. they are great. i went for an 80 mile ride on saturday and the only way i knew they were there was the music. also run the wire down the back of your neck that way it doesn't get cot in your zipper and it needs less slack for you to turn your head. make sure before you ride that you have full range of motion in your head without pulling the cord.

    here's the link.

I have "bluehelmet" a bluetooth module built directly into my helmet. Its awsome . Being a full face , it cuts noise from traffic and exhaust, I can place calls, listen to mp3s from my blackberry, and use it as a intercom system among other riders within 10 meters with the same capabilites. The mic is integrated in the front vent with a baffle so it nearly cuts all wind interfeiance, and the audio comes from one side so I am still road conscious . Its nice to hear if some idiot wants to fly past, horns, sirens etc.

Otherwise Ipod buds sound great, as do Z-buds
or check out these pricey nibs.

I have a pair of these, noise canceling due to the ear canal design and great sound. Most of the time I have the volume on my MP3 player set at the lowest level. Brand is Skull Candy.

I do have the Bose in ear headphones, and ill be the first to tell you to get a pair. however, don't get them for riding. Atlus, you can find them on amazon.com for around 50 bucks. im with you on the sausage typing. I have tried using them in my helmet and the rubber cones on the ends come off waaaay to easy after a couple months of use. at 25 per pair its not something i want to loose on the road. 8O
nurse, have you had any problems with the silicone ends coming off?
I have considered getting a bluetooth helmet or chatterbox like device but im not going to be using them that much ( of course i say that not having them)
hey johnny, is it really worth the cost to have that helment and how often do you use it? could you post up a link for me?
    thanks again

I have a pair of skull candy, and can't stand the fact that buds continuously pops out... I've tried all three sets of cushions that comes with and its the same result. Maybe my canals are to big. 8O

I wear a pair of earbuds from walmart. I think the brand is jvc and the cost is less than $25. They are the in the ear type and come with 3 sets of ear thingeys. I use the smallest ones so they fit further down the canals. I wear a SymaxII modular helmet which is good as sometimes when I put the helmet on one of the buds will come loose.I'm able to raise the chinbar and wriggle the bud back into position. I have found that putting in the buds and then wearing a balaclava REALLY keeps them in place. It is nice to listen to the tunes on my BlackBerry while going down the road. Because the buds fit inside your ear canals it is easy to hear the music at a moderate level.

I have a cheap walmart helmet that lets in a lot of wind.

I took a pair of over the ear headphones and removed the headband. They fit perfectly in the ear sockets in the helmet. I then wear 33db ear plugs. Even doing 75mph I don't have the ipod up all the way.

The earplugs make it easier to hear the music by blocking High Freq. sound.

ok heres what i found. Etymotic Research ER6i Isolator in ear headphones. On amazon.com for 77 bucks
    http://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Research ... 421&sr=1-1

they come with foam and plastic isolators. basicaly its like cutting a hole in the middle of ear plugs and putting them over the bose in ear head phones.

i think Ill give them a shot once i get my tax return. I also might try cutting a hole in ear plugs and putting them over my bose headphones. because, why not?
    thanks for the help guys
    ill keep you posted

Just remember that you still want to hear some of the outside world. I use a set Shure in ear unit that has a sound channel That runs down the side allowing you to hear the music but also allow sof the me outside world to be heard.

+1 on the skull candy brand. I have plain black ones. The sound is great and they have a volume control on the cord. I also ride a VTX1300 with BuBs pipes and have no problem hearing the good tunes!!
