Greetings from Northern MIchigan! The kids are grown & gone, I have not ridden a bike in 30 years but I'm now the proud owner of a 1982 XJ1100. This bike is a true "survivor", obtained from a very close friend who bought it new from the Yamaha dealer he worked for as a tech. Maroon in color, always in heated storage & 8,000 original miles. She hasn't been started or ridden in 15 years, so there is much to do. I understand most of the needed maintenance & will be getting help from the former owner. What I could use help with is updating her look. Some tasteful customizing, removing & saving the O.E. parts is what I have in mind. Mirrors, smaller LED turn signals, smoother taillight, & most important a custom seat (no king & queen look) & shorter/no sissy bar. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! (Do '82 XJ 750 seats interchange?) THANKS! Garyb

Welcome there are not a lot of 1100s around, be glad you have such a find. I took a 20+ year break myself. It's great to get back.

Welcome to the forum. This has to be one of the best forums on the web. There are a number of really heavy hitters (you guys know who you are!)who can probably heal your bike over the internet. Great bunch of folks and a lot of incredible info passed around for the asking. There also a lot of creative folks who have done great things with these old bikes.

Please don't mess up your original classic by adding fru fru!!!
