81 xj650 throttle cable

    I just bought a throttle cable for a 1981 xj650 on ebay, assuming it would be compatible with my 82 xj650 (judging from my manuals and parts catalogue, it should be). The cable that came is a double cable throttle, and my 82 is a single cable, and it looks like the 81 is a single cable throttle. The guy I bought it from insists it is the right cable for an 81 xj650. Does anyone know if any 81 xj650's had a throttle with a double cable? Thanks.

    Mo, no they don't have a dbl throttle cable. Mine is right here beside me & it only has 1 cable from the throttle. He don't know what he is talkiing about.

    I can't remember a Yamaha with a push-pull cable. Hondas, yes. eBay sellers often misidentify or have no clue what they're selling. YOU have to know what you're looking at/buying to be successful on eBay.

    My 89 Venture has a push-pull throttle. I believe the SECAII also has the dual cable.

    The 81 XJ650 uses a single cable. If someone has one that's different it's been modified.

    My 1981 XJ650LH Maxim has a single throttle cable. As does my 1980 XJ650G.

    Don't some of the 1100's have a dual cable setup or am I just imagining that?? Even so, My '81 650 is a single cable
