alright i got it in my head that i want pod air filters. despite everyone saying dont do it and reading other forums. i have a 4 into 2 exhaust with aftermarket muffler tips with only steel baffles. i believe a lot more air flow than stock mufflers. i have not changed jetting for this and runs good. when i buy the pods should i buy the dyno jet stage 3 kit also. and if anyone would like to fill me in on how this kit works. im planning on having my carbs all redone professionaly so i will have them install the jet kit. thanks for any info.

i think i remember seeing a forum post saying that the YICS engines like to have a little back pressure. i also have been looking at the jet kits but you end up in a bit of a quandry. for my bike the XJ700 you cant find anything except a stage 3. i think your gonna kick your self later for the ammout of time and money you invest to get a possible marginal increase of power in doing so your going to kill your fuel mileage and your going to have to work with some starvation issues.

    what bike are you riding?

Pods and exhaust are def marginal hp improvements if usually any, and as you know a b*tch to tune. You will gain some improvements somewhere and lose some other places.

If you have a good airbox maybe just try a k&n filter in that, unless you really like the pod look then have fun on your journey.

You want more hp how bout an engine swap :D

I have a maxim 650 with a 4-1 exhaust that except for a little restriction at the end of the muffler for back pressure is wide open. Stock air filter and stock jets and it runs and sounds like a monster. I run right with my buddy on his hyperchargered, power commanded, and vance and hines piped VTX1300 with no problem. In fact, except for a very slight lag off the line that can probably be fixed with a little fine tuning, my 650 is faster than his vtx1300. I would vote no on pods and try a k&n filter. The results are probably close and you won't bog down if you get caught in the rain due to wide open pod filters sucking in water. Just my humble opinion.

The problem with a stage 1 or 3 kit from dynojet is that the jet numbers do not correspond with either Mikuni or Kehin main jet numbers. So if you find yourself a bit lean and go to the local parts house with a dynojet 132 that is too lean and get a 135 mikuni or kehin main jet, you might find yourself way to fat or still lean.
    Good luck with it
