Here is a picture of my bike. I have had her for about a year and have just been working on the mechanicals. Now she is running sweet I would like to make her look a little nicer. I need to get some sidecovers to cover the battery and TCI unit. Anyone in Australia (or elsewhere) like to sell me some? Once I have those I can pick a colour and paint her up.

Why would the PO discard these?

I've seen a number of pictures of some pretty cool XJ's on this site but would love to see some more for inspiration.......

You mean there's other colors besides black?

    Well Sushi,

I did think of black, and it is very tempting. Just had a look at your bike and it looks pretty cool. Well done. I'm hoping a few more proud owners will post some colour pictures......

I just happen to have both side covers for a Seca 750. They would need paint. Step into my office with a PM.

I've had this paint scheme idea of pearl white with the rest of the bike silver and gold. I know, it's a dated look. It would be so clean tho. . .

I am currently painting mine going 2 tone and using clear coat and matte clear coat to separate the 2 colors.

I will post to my gallery in a few days. getting a updated classic look I think you guys and gals will like it. nothing fancy just classy.

Black seems to be the popular color for these xjs . I understand that fuel tank emblems "YAMAHA" on bikes that were destined for the USA was Gold hard to find cheap ones in gold. 20 bucks each was the cheapest but too high in my mind . so I found a set of Silver/Chrome ones for a combined price of $15.50

I like a little color, painted mine red/black to match my gear pic's in my gallery if you want to take a look, it's sort of the classic style and might not fit your tank but I like it!

Also a fan of red. Even more so after looking at SecaRob's pics. NICE!

    I like my blue one.
Just started to tear apart the other X and haven't decided what color to make her.

Initially I had a purple in mind (almost something anodized looking)
BUT I could be convinced to change my mind.

NO > NOT black. You need it to be a little bit unique otherwise how will you know what bike is yours?

My buddy is all into red so I can't copy him!

SecaRob, your bike looks great, no doubt. I'll amend my statement to say that black with some sort of red or yellow trim is cool.

I can't believe anyone likes the stock tank emblem. That plain "YAMAHA" logo? It looks like a font from some corporate office letterhead. BORING. I'd rather have the tuning forks logo made in a vinyl graphic or metal if I put anything on the tank at all.

Wow, you guy's have invested some time (and money no doubt) on your bikes and have some beautiful machines to show for it. Thanks for the ideas and I hope to see more of your bikes.

SecaRob, the bit on top on the instrument cluster is a digital speedo. I assume it was fitted in the factory as it is an ex police bike - I guess so the cops could follow a suspect speeder and determine exactly how fast they were going. As the dial speedo has a broken needle it's pretty much all I need, though I'll fix the needle with a toothpick as per a previous post.

I'm looking forward to getting some sidecovers so I can try to make my bike as lovely as some of those pictures forum members have posted.

    Cheers,

    Viper yellow and a clearcoat.

Really goes well with the black.
