    Hey,

How much do you think a not running (but turns) 81 maxim with missing rear break cover(mechanism), and all the other TLC issues that goes with a bike that age should fetch. I have a lead on one and would like to get it gratis, but if the guy holds out for some dough, how much is too much. Want it for a project bike.

I got a free RUNNING bike last year that needed cosmetics. I personally wouldn't pay more than $300 for a bike that didn't run.

a bike is worth whatever people are willing to pay for it. offer him what _you_ consider a good deal, if he refuses, walk away. he'll probably call you back later.

See what other ones are worth (condition, miles, paint, chrome) and start backing off what you know it will need and decide if you want to pay that. If you have the cash the owner might take less if he sees greenbacks. All depends on how much stuff is screwed up and missing. Look it over good and make your best offer knowing what it will take to make it ride-able again.

+! - also if it has a clear title is a big factor if you want to put it on the road.
