I cleaned the calipers and master cylinder reservoir from my 83 XJ900 as best I could but they still looked pretty ratty so I gave them a few coats of tremclad glossy black enamel. I think they look a whole lot better. Hopefully they'll survive the road grime a while.

I love the look of Tremclad.

    Good detail work.
I painted my whole frame with it. I painted my '69 BSA frame with it too.
And I swear I have a buddy who would powder coat the whole thing for free.
It's a do it yerself thing.

    Good luck!

Nice view of the 'Loo in the last pic there, Baz. Ya might wanta pull the door shut next time?

Parts look nice, though. I just did my caliper and brake rotor (EBC floater) with Duplicolor "Brake and caliper" paint. Hopefully it holds up.
What's Tremclad? Never heard of it down here in the States...

Thanks for the kind words... and yeah, the wife wasn't too happy about me using the dining room table like that. I thought I'd leave the hallway "Loo" door open since i'm gathering opinions on painting the toilet seat and bowl with glossy black Tremclad. It would look pretty slick, doncha think?
And for those who don't know about this product, Tremclad is sold up here in Canada. I think the US version is called Rust-o-leum. Tremclad is a thick paint applied by spray can or brush and used to cover rusty metal - and pretty much anything else you want. It looks like enamel but I don't know if its got any actual enamel in the formula. It comes in tons of colors and its fun to use.
I love the look and now that I've done the calipers and master cyl. reservoir, I want to carry on and paint a bunch of other things. Maybe the car, the garbage cans, the front door, the railing going upstairs, the window frames, my wife's car, the cat! The possibilities are endless. Too bad I would end up divorced if I tried any of that stuff - such a pity!
And yes, I will certainly be careful with the brake fluid - the stuff is totally evil!
