    Hey all.
I REALLY don't want to pull the engine on my bike but the paint is flaking off all over on the head and cooling fins of my bike. I want to use stripper on it and get rid of the black and leave shiny aluminum but I'm not sure how to proceed if i want to leave the engine in. Can I mask off just below the fins and hope the stripper doesn't run? Do I need to worry about plastic parts in other places? What can I use to tape off the fins? Can I strip the whole top half of the engine in the first place? Please help a rookie out!!! Thank You!

Paint stripper crawls right under masking tape. You could remove the battery and gas tank and lay it on the side to help keep the stripper under control. You could use a catch tray and re-apply with a paint brush, or tooth brush. Sounds messy anyway.

I used Airplane paint stripper. takes about 30 mins depending on how many layers you have. mine was stripped down to bare metal before it was all said and done.

You will need a couple of garbage bags & duct tape to do it with the motor in the frame

Flash, will the stripper eat through the duct tape or just masking tape like Time stated? Also, is it alright to leave the aluminum unpainted? I'm not sure I want to put in the constant effort of keeping it clean, however. Comments?
