Hello everyone..really nice to share info on these wonderful machines.
At first i didnt realise what i was getting in to. After buying XJ700S though is rare find for parts, am convinced is going to be my collectible. I have just taken it from the previous owner, i find the clucth is too hard(feel like taking a break stop)but no slippage, can anyone suggest if its just the cable.?

Also i dont find a smoother ride (revs high) on 3,4,5 gears (feels like i am still on 2nd or 3rd gear)..Could this be because of wrong grade(automotive)oil during storage.? Any idea.? Thanks :)

what kind of revs are you runnin. cause on mine i run like 3500-4000 at 45-50 and like 5000 at around 60mph and it dose seem kind high but if you arnt used to 4 cylinders it can be kind weird. but thats whare its geared to be at.

    Hi Oldskoo11,

Thnks for reply. The clutch cable was chnged and is far smooth now, i did check rpms, 3 at 60km(38mph) & 5 at 100km (63miles) 5.5 at 110km
..sound like iam experiencing the same rpms like yu..i believe this is normal for XJ700. Am not used to these as i have ridden vtwins Vstar 650 all this while and they dont rev that much.

These engines like to be around 5-6K all day.
Cruising the highway at 75 will keep it up there! ...she redlines at 10K so you got plenty of room to twist yet! (just make sure your rubber and brakes are in good shape)
