I've been looking for a small sport fairing that will fit over our rectangular headlights for a little while now. I want something that will not interfere with the aux/fog light below the main light. I found this:

    http://www.maier-mfg.com/shop.cfm?Produ ... modelyear=

Has anyone found anything else that's readily available?

sushi; Wow. That's sexy. Looks like the lines will complement the 750 Seca nicely.

Whoa, hold on there Lt. Dave. Send me a pic and maybe I'll buy yours.

My only question about the one I posted is whether or not it'll clear the fog light. And for all you 80's-haters who blaspheme square headlights, I say you're nuts.

There's nothing cooler than square headlights and Battlestar Galactica font Seca logos.

By searching outside the forum, I found a link that led me back to an old post with a photo of that fairing mounted on a 750 Seca. Check it:

    http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic ... =next.html

The best part is, now we know it'll actually fit. And in case no one's figured it out, it's snowing hard, I don't have to work tomorrow and I have WAY too much time on my hands.

Hey I never said I hated the '80's. I have very fond memories of the 80's.
    I just don't like square-ness.

But the Battlestar Glactica logo is just awesome.

I prefer circle headlights personally... but my first bike, the little 125 I had in Asia that looked EXACTLY like a small version of my Seca (I've gotta find it and bring it home) had a square headlight and I think it give a wider field of view at night than my round Seca

Sorry to resurrect this. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this soon.

Do you guys think it'll actually deflect the wind up a bit, or is it all decorative?

I have the fairing off from my Seca 900 that I'd be willing to get rid of if you're interested. Cracked on the side and defenitlely needs to be repainted but everything is repairable. Let me know if you're interested.

Did the 900 have the same headlight configuration? Square, and smaller square on the bottom? Got any pictures? Or is it very similar to the one in the link?

A word on bikini fairings. Also the reason I sold off the "removable" factory fairing from my '81 Seca.

DEPENDING on how tall you are and your handlebar height, etc., a bikini fairing can be a good thing; if you're a bit "too" tall like myself it can take the general wind blast and concentrate it in exactly the WRONG spot. In my case the 550 Seca fairing put the wind blast right on my neck/chin area, not comfortable.

Hm...I'm not as tall as you are Big. I'm like 5'11", 5'10" depending on how earnestly I'm lying on any given day. I guess I won't know until I try it.

I like the looks and would also like to hear from anyone both pro and con that are familiar with one of these or similar. I plan on taking a long trip this summer and would really like some protection. I am 5' 8" and have an '81 750 Seca.

Like I said, this one's difficult. For you guys 5'8"-5'10" it probably wouldn't be an issue at all. Ideally the fairing should lift the windstream to a point about even with your forehead or above; any lower and it will buffet your head or (as in my case) hammer your neck.

The problem is, that with ANY fairing, until you ride YOUR bike (or a similar one) equipped with the fairing, you won't know how it's going to work for you. I found this out the hard way for the first time when I went to a lot of time and $$$ to get a little cafe fairing all color-match painted and striped and fitted to my '78 SR500.

Then I rode the bike with it on. For about a week, if. The fairing spent the rest of its days hanging on the wall of the garage.

Back to the Battlestar Galactica font for a sec:

I like this one. Yamaha shoulda put an emblem there to begin with.

The emblem is one from the front of the instrument cluster on some 82s and the 83s. Luggage rack came off eBay from some guy in Ontario; it's a GSM from back in the day. Rather poorly engineered mounting compared to the real Yamaha one, but I've been looking for the real one for 2+ years and not so much as a scent to follow.

The seller had more than one, I apparently got the last one; but he seemed to imply he might get his hands on some more so he has my email. Between you and a couple of the other members, he could sell three of them right now.
