is there any bit of the shart left or is it broken off enough so that there is none of the shaft sticking out?

first suggestion would to be spray is with some rust inhibitor to get it to loosen up like wd40 taht kinda of thing let it soak. if there is some shaft ocne its doen soaking over night grab a pair of pliers and try to loosen it that way.

if that doesnt work then go ot the local hardware store and get your self some easy outs. its like a revers kinda of screw driver thing goes into a drill.

next get your self a drill bit that is roughly the size that you need unsure to the size as the head of the easyout will vary. should probably be half the size of the easy out head.

drill your hole into the shaft of the bolt. next take your easyout. and burnish. like in the picture. and then flip the thing over and use the other head to remove it.

bad details but its hard to explain.

yeah no problem just mak sure you soak that bolt in lubricant first for a while. because if you snap one of those easyouts in there youll be drilling for ever. glad i could be of service.

Aguilar, get some Kroil. Google it. This stuff is the Schizz-nit!!! It WILL get that bolt loose. Aerosol is what I recommend.

Also, like Ranger said. get a set of easy outs. Use a center punch to mark the center of the bolt and drill a hole smaller than the tip of the easy out. Drive the easy out in with a hammer. Use a wrench to drive the easy out, not a drill. After the Kroil has set for a while, over night should be fine, it should come out easily.

Keep us up to date and, of course, pics,pics,pics...

If the head's off, you should be able to lift and remove the tank? if so , there should be enough bolt meat to grab with some Vise grips and twist. As stated above, soak with some penetrating oil first. They've been going on about Kroil the past couple months.

Edit: See as I was typing the Kroil was coming out LOL ---^

the easy outs i use, use a drill only there is some easyouts that you can grabb with a wrench but i think a drill with low setting as possible and 180 pounds of weight should give enough grab to start the turn. the easy outs you use look like a square that the tip was twisted right?

Are you saying I'm square but a bit twisted?!?!?

Actually, I like Hanson brand the best. The are knurled all the way around and, yes, you can use a drill on them. I have been known to use an inpact on them from time to time, but I also work with 40+ year old steam pipes. Something as small as this, I would probably hesitate to use a drill, but that's just me.

the Hanson easy outs are these.

You can find and entire set at McMaster.com

After you have soaked it (use some Kroil if you can get it), take a punch and place it in the center and give it a sharp rap (not a big bang). Sometimes that helps. If you end up having to drill it and use an easy out, then you have an indent to guide the drill bit too.

I was skepticl about the Kroil too. Then I got some. It is nothing short of amazing. I called the company and ordered 2 aerosol cans on the "Google special" delvered to my door for $12. Best $12 I ever spent. It leaves WD40 and PB Blaster in the weeds.

Kroil came through for me again yesterday.

My wide-awake 14 year old had parked his bicycle last fall after getting it covered in snow and the chain was RUSTED TIGHT. Many of the links would not move, even using pliers.

Soaked it in Kroil, came back a couple hours later and wiggled free the one or two links that were still stuck...

all better. But the best was still breaking free the rusted fork caps on BOTH my XJs after I had tried every other product out there.
