Will exhaust from other models fit my 1986 xj700? eg. xj650 or 750? (air cooled)

I dont know as my experience is limited, however i have swapped the engine in my xj from a 650 to a 750 then to a later model 750 all with the same exhaust, so i guess so.

Thanks for your replies, I think to be on the safe side I'll keep looking for one specific to the 700 model.

85-86 air head and max x exhuasts interchange. How do I know? I have one on my max x, even though they are different part numbers. Don't know about the others. I do know that the head pipes from a xj700 fit an xj750, but not sure about the xj700 pipes fitting an xj750 collector.

I Just bought a complete exhaust on ebay, from an x but sounds like that will fit my air cooled 700. cost me half of a new set, from Alabama so very little rust and looks in good shape.

Can't wait to get it, my old exhaust was pretty rusty and full of holes.

thanks everyone for your input on this thread

Yes, the x and xj700 are fully interchangeable No differences other than part numbers anywhere with regards to installation or performance
