Buying Chopper Seat ... Need Help mounting !!!

My 1981 yamaha xj650 is under construction ... im keeping the shocks on my bike so i want to know if anyone can show me specific direction on how to get one of these sits to fit .... Id appreciate any tips or pics !!!

With out pictures and dimensions of the seat it is hard for anyone to help you with this.

 

I used to have a little chopper seat on my bobber that had springs on the back that sit on the frame rails. I just used some small 1/2" rubber rubes screwed to the frame rails with self tapping screws for the springs to go over. The front of the seat had to pivot, so I cut down a large door hinge and painted it. Then used pop rivets to connect it under the front of the seat and bolted it down with the bolt that holds down the rear of the gas tank.

 

hope this pic will help out. I used a 1" by 8" by 1/4" metal strip cut from a 36" piece i bought at the local hardware chain for about $10.

 

i must admit everyone willing to help has been great ... the last two posts were genious .... wish i had u guyz around to pop it on ... but i guess this is where i gotta get creative !

 

rdb2here how did u attach a hard tail after removing/sawing off the tail ??? i actually some how have ur bike on my computer background some how lol guess i was looking at concepts and ur's was bad ass ....totally need your help ... I have the shop tossing on some APE Bars .... But the rest is all me.

 

I'm blushing Max. I still have shocks on the swingarm, soon as the weather breaks i will stretch out the rear 6 " with a longer drive shaft and longer shocks.

 

vERY cReative ... Very Chopper like ... did you saw off the baffles on your exhaust? I would like to take those out if it makes a difference in sound. i THINK i mite go with 15 inches as well with the barz and get the real expensive hydraulic cables. Im buying an engine for 150 and gonna start swapping parts as soon as i get back from cali.

 

I used a 1/2" chisel and removed the exhause end caps. The sound is just right, a deep sound thats not too loud.

 

so with a chisel and went around and kind of hammerd it out ? or what ? i kinda need step by step instructions .... i could totally use it ! same with the seat if possible.

 

OK I DIDNT WAIT FOR UR REPLY RDBHERE 2 , BUT I DID IT MYSELF.... GREAT SOUND ..... I HAMMERD IT OUT WITH A FLAT HEAD .... LOL CAME OUT CLEAN AND NOT RUGGED ....IT WAS LIKE OPENING A HUGE CAN OF TUNA WITH A FLAT HEAD
