ok, on my number 1 carb, i took out the main jet, and then shinned a flashlight down the small jet hole to make sure that was it.....well it is stripped. i tried to tap a flatheat into the top to create a slot to losten it with, and it fkin in there. how do i get it out?

You may be able to get a small easyout into it without drilling. If not, then you will have to drill out the hole a bit. But regardless, you will destroy it coming out and will have to replace it. Soak it with Kroil before you try to get it out.

I picked up a set of easyouts at Lowes, and they are handy to have.

They are hard to see. I had to be a magnifying glass to see the ones on the bottom screw of the main jet. I don't recall where I saw the one on the smaller jet. Once I verified the main jet, I was comfortable that someone had not been monkeying with jet sizes.

Yep, it doesn't take much to strip brass. One slip, and that can be that.

From the sounds of it, the worst transpired.
Apparently, #4 had an easyout taken to it with a bad outcome.
Anyone got a #4 carb body for cheap?

It must be nice to have neighbors who will even lend a hand. Sounds like I'd thank my neighbor for his/her efforts and not have them "help" me again. Hopefully, one of our family here has a replacement at a reasonable price.
I will also suggest the use of reverse twist drill bits as they do not cause the metal to expand near as much as an easyout. Since the jet is a write-off, this might be just the ticket to get that stuck jet out.
Best of luck to you Loola (and the missus too, little ones are a wonderful thing).

Well, that pretty much stinks. Good, but painful learning lesson.

Check ebay. Probably can't find just one carb, but having an extra set is good insurance if you find a good price.

Next option is to check around your area for motorcycle salvage yards. Sometimes there are good finds there.

What are the bike details? You might want to add that to your signature line.

You might also look at Craig's List for your area. I see carbs and parts there from time to time also.
