Took the battery off the tender, put it in the bike.
Checked the oil, turned the petcock to prime, pumped up the tires.
Turned the key checked all the lights.
Thumbed the starter it turned over. :)
Hit it again, turned over strong.
Opened the choke half way, thumbed the starter it coughed. :D
Pushed the starter again, it coughed and I caught it with the throttle, brought it up to about 2 grand.
I slowly opened the choke to about 3/4, eased off the throttle and She idled.
Not a smooth idle but, She idle.
First time she was started in 4+ months.

Took her for a ride, couldn't wipe the smile from my face.
Once warm the idle smoothed out to perfect 1050rpm.
So happy that She weathered the winter well.
I'll ride this week as She will come apart this weekend for repairs, Chacal has a care package on the way.
    Cheers!

Hound, I found myself smiling probably pretty close to that same smile last night. Unfortunately is wasnt because I took the bike out for a ride, I was just starting to fit the new pieces together and it was working better than I hoped, so far minimal alterations are going to be needed!! YAY!!!

Yeah, it was the same for me last night, although I ran into a few snags. I had to drill additional holes into the rear fender i just put on... the dog-on seat didn't fit properly... this morning I couldn't find my license plate bracket; so I just said screw it... i put some straps on it and tied it down to the sissy bar. Aint no way I'm going to miss the first 70 degree day!!! WhoooHooooo!!!!!!!!!!!

It is currently 56 degrees in Motown on its way to a predicted 68F. I'm leaving in an hour to go home and finish fixing the water heater; if it doesn't take too long I may actually have time to go for a ride!

i'm not happy, i got my biek otu of the barn started right up, had it in our garage for around a month, we cleaned the garage, so the biek needed to go to the barn again for a day, so I started it up, let it warm up, took it up and down our road, had it screaming, especially infront of our neighbors house who rides a harley. today he got his bike out and was running up in front fo our house today showing off, so i went otu to the barn to show him up, but it wouldnt start!! killed the battery turning it over, I kicked the tire and died a little inside. :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

I bought my 85 Maxim a little over a month ago. I took my wife out to see the bike that I had been craving for about 2 years, for the first time. I turned the petcok to prim, turned the ignition on and hit the start button, killed the battery dead trying to crank it. My heart was broken and I was so embarassed. I borrowed my neighbors charger and four hours later she fired up. Now I have my own battery charger.
