    Hey Boss,
I actually tried to do this yesterday and my was to remove the carbs or twist it out. I was thinking about just removing the box and throwing on 4 unifilters and calling it a day and adjusting the carbs and boy was that airbox a pain. (but I sitll didnt remove it yet)

Yeah, I removed the carbs and still couldn't get it out. I am fairly certain I found every screw holding it in, but I still couldn't get it out.

The engine has to be out of the frame to give you the room to pull the airbox, or you have to cut the box in two - which is not at all advisable! It ruins the box and allows air leaks.

    Hey i'm from Gahanna.

Are you putting PODs in? If so I would not do it. I have pods and wish I had the stock air box.

You might be able to squeeze it out if you take the starter off

What a lameass design. You have to remove the engine? JimminyCricket!! Sometimes I really hate engineers. That's like the clowns at Toyota who put the oil filter in a location where you had to drop the engine out in order to change it on a car back in the (late 70's?)

No, I am not going to cut it.

Awalker19 - I am not going to put pods on, I just wanted to get a better understanding of the the thing and how the boots fit in. I am a visual type of guy and I am lousy at following verbal instructions. I need to see things in 3d to understand them. Will the airbox off an XJ750 Maxim fit a 650? If so, I will have one for you in a couple of days ...

We'll have to get together sometime. I would love to go out for a ride with someone. I am just down the road about a 1/2 mile from the Gahanna Swim Club.

I am not conversant enough with all the parts yet ... I don't know where the starter is - but I am going to find out soon as I am going to be parting out an XJ750.
