Purchased my bike about a month or 2 back. First time I have had the tank and covers off.... She seemed naked to me so I thought I would share it with you all. Not bad, though From what I can tell from Yamaha USA they came in two colors, Ruby Red and New Yamaha Black. Mine looks like it still had the original Paint. Definately due for a new suit. 25+ years is good enough in one set of clothes. Anyways for those of you that like this sort of thing here is my Naked 1983 XJ750 Maxim. I have new fuel tank emblems and the stay for rear lights coming from chacal so I can make some more progress toward goin to original. I hope to have it as good as when it came off the factory floor when I am done with it.

The cut on the exhaust is mighty sporty! Is this stock? Nice looking bike, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Yes that is the stock look on that bike, one of the previous owners cut the pipes so I went to a junk yard and got it. I am 90% sure it is stock since I don't think any after market pipes for that bike would have the bracket and the bumper (cushion) so the center stand (which I also installed) doesn't hit the exhaust. Not to mention the fact that the exhaust mounts all lined up and it mounts through the side shifter bracket. If you notice I have also cleaned up and restored the "Yamaha/ YCIS cover) and painted the engine black. Here is a pic of it as I received it.

Oh yeah while I am at it... here is a pic of it with the tank and all that stuff on it. I have views of the other side in my gallery. So far I have done the oil change, (it needs another since I have put 1k miles on it this month). the air filter, cleaned it, lubed the cables, painted the engine, restored both side "yamaha" covers. I have added a center stand. Repaired the broken head light bracket (the bolts to hold the instrument cluster on had snapped), changed the oil in the shaft drive, and restored the exhaust to OEM.

I can't find any stamped yamaha part number on them, but from what I can tell based on yamaha parts manual they are stock. I hope they are or I would have to place another order with chacal.... :)

Those look like the stock bars to me.............the 1983 models used the "buckhorn" style bars, really similar in size and designs to the XJ650 Maxim bars.............and nothing at all like the adjustable 1982 XJ750 Maxim bars.

By the way, the 1983 models are quite rare!

Look Great! As a matter of fact it look almost exactly like my 83 XJ750K. Your bars look just like mine, same tank colour too. I love that slash look on your pipes, mine are done in your standard flared end. Your have more style.

I think mine is naked... yours... well it is in the region of chest cavity open and hearts and other vital organs are on the table next to it... just like any human not the condition I want to see any bike in :) That will probably be my bike as soon as I get a spare.... That way while I gutting this bike I can still get my riding fix in.... Course I am not sure I am going to go to that extreme, unless I decide to powder coat the frame...

Just a little open heart surgery to clean the organs and repaint the skeleton.
