Hey people, I'm looking for a DIY idea to sidemount my license plate without purchasing any new items... I have solid struts on the bike, just cut up a stock sportster fender I got for 10$, which left me enough room in the frame to mount my fabricated springer seat posts about 4 inches behind the cross bar that's just behind the airbox... Anywho... there's been a whole lot of metal chopping in the garage the past few days, but to complete the ensemble, I'm going to be side mounting the license plate... I wanted to get a consult from the board because I don't want to fab something that blows off the bike or anything... Thanks!

Heh, if I could weld, I wouldn't be going with the struts :) I really like your bike though! Yeah, I'm from the states, why do you ask?

I'm not really worldly rounded, just thought your login name was german or something. Sometimes we get guys from all over the world on here.

If you want to make some arrangements to bring your bike to Bloomington for fab work, let me know.

I bought one of these, if you notice on the left side it has an eye where you can mount it to the shock mount or in your case your strut mounting point. I'm sure you can make one of these pretty easily by drilling a hole and heating then bending some sheet metal.

Hey Crath, one of these days I may have to take you up on that... How much would you charge to make her an official hardtail? I'm down by Taylorville, work in springfield... bloomington isn't too far of a jog from here.

Just to do the hartail conversion wont run you more than a few hundred bucks. If you want to go farther with it with seat mounts, tail lights, bobbed fenders, etc, we can talk about it more later though.
