76' Honda CB750 softtail/bobber build

Decided to start a post about my project I'm working on because other Honda site's ive looked at like the "stock" bikes. Soo, ive seen some bobber projects on here and they have had a good response. I picked this bike up for FREE from a guy i work with. It has been sitting in a garage for about 20 years and will need alot of TLC and time. A complete motor rebuild is going to be a major point.
The motor has turned over with the kick start but then the next time i try it want budge. Move the bike backwards and try again and oddly the kick will work again. So i stopped and waiting to see the problem when i open the motor. Maybe, hopefully there want be major problems. But it was FREE.

Temporary mocked up the rear fender. going to need more work with it, but i wanted to see the look.


Started doing some wielding and grinding. that side had alot of filler and wield because it was cut alittle short. Not a pro.


sanded, bondo work and put some flat black on the tank.

Cool build I have a 75 cb550 cafe project I have been working on for awhile. Not much is stock anymore except the frame.

 

a backbone like that is screaming for a sportster tank...you can get em brand new from Dennis Kirk for less than $100...King tanks anyways

 

work is going slow because of time, but have been able to get most of the welding done and grinding. Still have to mount a bracket for the rear fender and some gausets for support. Started alittle bondo work on my welded areas to smooth things out.

 

Finally got to do some work on the bike today. I got the rear fender and seat pan bracket mounted.

You have some serious skills. I can't believe you took a free bike that looked like it was going to be junked and turned it into this. I'm curious, how much time and money have you put into this so far?

 

umm time...ive been working on it since about mid november. a couple hours during week and a few more on weekends. just whenever i have time to get away and work. During holidays not much happened.

As far as money, about $700-$800 thats new tires that haven't been put on and new spokes that i have but not on rim yet.

Thanks for all the positive comments. I'm lucky to have family and friends with the knowledge and equipment to do all of it.

Great work, looking really nice as it sits now. I love the old Hondas, will be keeping an eye on how this one progresses.
