I might be getting a 81 650 seca for $250. It has no title but I could use a few parts off of it and sell the rest. The guy wants $300 but I offered $250. The only thing is I have to wait a week to see if I get it. Someone else called him before me and offered to pay what he is asking. The reason I have to wait a week is cause the other guy is going out of town until then. So that deal falls through the seller will honor my offer. I went and looked at it. It is a little beat up but it runs if it had a new battery. Here is a pic.

Rob, it's a 1982 model (all 650 Seca's were), and go over there with $300 cash and buy that thing before it gets stolen out from under you......my 2-cents!

Forget about that other guy, out of town, etc. You snooze, you lose, sometimes on great deals like this..............!

P.S> it looks pretty complete and all-original, I would restore that bike, not part it out!!

Heck, go with $325 in hand just to make it easy. The bike is easily worth that. You'd be able to part it out for far more than that and probably $1000 if you got it into sellable state. That is, if you didn't want to ride it ...

Looks complete. If the exhaust system isn't rusty or torn up, it's worth more than the guy is asking. Don't cut it up, restore it.

First cash should take it - unless he knows the other buyer well he would be foolish to hold it. I've had bikes and other stuff bought out from under me while on the way...

I decided to go ahead and give him $300 for it. I'm gonna call him tomorrow. I would do it tonight but he told me he has class tonight. My gf is just going to love it. She complains enough about the one bike I already have. She worries that I'm not going to have enough money for bills. Which is not the case.

i love those bikes. id like to get one of them and replace my 550 maxim with a 550R. then i would have a 550, 650, 750 and 900...

my 900 started as a good deal at $500 and now ive got a few dollars into restoring it to safe riding condition...

get it and join me in bringing a great bike back to the road...

I was looking all over the place for a fixer for my first bike and never did find one like that. The only thing I'd be careful of is if he doesn't have a title- get him to read the vin off to you so you can run up to your local police ofc and make sure it isn't stolen because ya just never know...

Well I called the guy back about the seca. I told him I would bring him $300 cash that night. Well he made some sort of deal with the other guy on the phone and he wants to be honorable about it. He told me if the other guy doesn't show on Tues. it is mine for $250. I guess I just have to wait and see what happens. Even though it is only a few more days I'm really just itching to spent the $300 on tires and some other parts for my maxim. This snow is driving me nuts. I have been inside all weekend.

    did they make an 1100R?

ive decided i only want to go with Secas and not mix and match Secas and Maxims...

thats ONE of the reasons my 550 maxim needs to find a good new home. its currently the odd bike out...

Guess what I have in my garage. :D The other buyer never showed so I it got for the $250 that I originally offered. It has major electrical problems. The clutch cable is all screwed up. It has been laid over (big scratches down the right hand side of the engine case). The tank has dents all over it. The front brakes don't work. The side covers are missing. And a dead battery. The vin ends in 000579 and the production date says 6/81. Does this mean that this bike is one of the first 579 made? Here is some pics.

Well I just went and read chacal's thread on model ID's and vin's. The serial # for the 82 650 seca starts at 000101. So this means this bike is #478 off the assembly line! ? ! ?

Yes it does indeed! I've got one of the LAST 550 Secas ever made; that's way cool #478. It doesn't look all that bad; just stay up on eBay and between that and chacal you'll have it up and running in no time.

    I love a good rescue!
