Is there a reason I can't use a regular petcoc with the use of pod filters? My factory one is leaking and I don't understand the need for the vaccum one.

stock petcock uses vacuum off the intake manifold boot not air filter.
so you can run pods fine with a stock petcock

now weather you should or not is a whole nother story

kil is right. Pods have nothing to do with your petcock. You can change over to a standard on/off, gravity fed petcock if you don't like the vacuum type. Chacal sells a variety of them.

I thought the vaccum line off the carb boot went to the petcoc but I guess I was wrong. I guess it could be called an "intake manifold" as it really isn't the boot either. So as I originally was going to do it should be fine to cap it and put a regular one on it sounds like. Thanks fellas.

Just remember to shut it off or risk flooding the crankcase with fuel.

That's a given with any bike with that style. This isn't my first bike, but thanks for the heads up.
