i took out the KAWI for a Top speed test

1000-6000 RPM it wants to go great speeds quickly :D
6100-9000 RPM it wants to bog a bit down
9100-14000 RPM it feels like a turbo kicks on thanks to the RAM AIR 8)

at 90 MPH it shakes violently up and down :?
at 95 MPH it stops shaking
at 96-125 MPH it rides very smooth and wants more 8O
at 130 MPH i ran out of fuel DOH

before any body does a high speed test please check your fuel you don't want to have to walk 10 miles pushing a bike

I find so many things wrong with all this.

90mph is starts shaking. STOP and fix whatever is wrong with it.
Oh, and anythign beyond that point on a bike that's obviously not really been gone through.

That flat spot between 6-9k rpm is kinda normal on 600 kawi's. Shim the carb needles, put a factory pro ignition advancer on it, and make sure that carbs are really clean to all but eliminate it.

Also, ram air isn't going to be dictated by engine rpm, but by air speed. What you more than likely felt was the bulk of that engine's power band up high in the revs.

Flat spot eh? And you did this aware of this problem? What are you thinking with Steve? Due to the risky nature of motorcycle riding, you should never take a machine up to limits with questionable condition tires (or anything else for that matter)!!! People might think you have questionable skills/ risk awareness!!!
Stay alive and unhurt, don't push the machine until you have gone through the whole thing, fixed obvious issues and wrung it out a few times!
Some folks might question your desire to stay alive!

One blasted second. This is the 1996 Kawasaki? How old are the tires? If they're orginal you're lucky to still be here. Mag wheels, tubeless tires? Do you have ANY IDEA what happens with a front wheel flat tire? It's DAMN scary at 60mph; could be fatal above that.

Please don't turn yourself into just another statistic.

I'd say it's a sure bet if you don't start using good judgement. You would probably slow down a bit if you saw the idiot who came into the ED where I work. High speed exit stage left from a motorcycle, right side of face gone from cheek bone down. Jaw gone from right side to left of center. Still alive though. Didn't seem to be enjoyin' life too much.

Like speed? What about go-karts or slot cars?

One last thought. As a responsible adult you owe it to yourself to not let others influence you to the point of making potentially life threatening decisions. Be your own man.

I feel like an old geezer in the pulpit but dang! Life is so short. Better to live life at 60 mph for 70 years than at 100+ mph for 18 years.

    Signed,

    Old geezer in the pulpit

I'm not even an old geezer, and I haven't even seen a pulpit since high school (catholic school).

But there's safe and not safe. Arrive alive, and quit making my insurance rates go up.

Yeah Steve, I want to see you alive enjoying the screamin deals you scored!
Next one that passes under your nose, just give me a hollar! I've got a few coworkers who would pay a reasonable finders fee for a deal...
