Does anyone know what or if there is any problems in swaping a master cylinder that was used on a one disk front brake system to a dual brake system? wanted to make the switch for the mirror perch. thanks

Don't do it. Basically a dual MC has a bigger bore to pump enough fluid to move two pistons. A smaller bore MC will have to travel further to fill the same capacity. End result, No brakes as it runs to the end of the bore and has not created enough pressure.

    I reiterate, DON'T DO IT.

You can get a master cylinder for the xj1100 at partsnmore.com for I think $76.00 It will take care of your dilema.

What about switching from a single brake master cylinder (currently on the Maxim) to a dual brake master cylinder (without changing to dual brakes)? would this work?

both the seca one on ebay and the XS one will work with the maxim?

that means i have to decide whether i want one that "looks new" or spend a little more and get one that is really 'new".

They will both work on a maxim with flatter bars so long as your bars are still 7/8 tube.

Nothing wron with the ebay one but just take into account that it may need a kit put in it.(extra$$$). A new one is ready to go straght away.

It's your budget, so I can only offer reccomendations.

    Cheers
