Replacement Title options in New York State

    Hello everyone!

    General question regarding the bike I just picked up. Has anyone here had any luck in getting a replacement title for their bike in New York?

    I know there are a few title services (Broadway, ITS) but I'm wondering what the "rules" might be in NYS. Before I go doing much else to my $200 bike, I want to make sure I'm not going to be wasting my time.

    So I guess NYS isn't too popular! oh well - how about general comments on Broadway title? They seemed to have a more competitive rate than ITS.

    I can't speak for Broadway Title Service,but International Title Service worked for me. I obtained a title for a 1982 Honda CB450 Nighthawk,and the total cost was about $175. Title was recieved in about 6 weeks. It would have been sooner,but I neglected to provide the necessary notarized bill of sale from the previous owner,so the processing of the title was delayed. One word of caution...if during the DMV records check the bike comes back as stolen,the person applying for the replacement title will be the party that is prosecuted for theft of the motorcycle. I am located near Syracuse NY. Good luck to you!

    maybe I need to clarify my last posting...

    If I was going to have someone run it (register, etc) I wouldn't pick someone I consider a friend!

    In "running it", I meant check the VIN to see if it were reported stolen at any point.
