broken bolt in oil filter cover

    i have a broke off bolt head i drilled it out yet the cover still wont come off can anyone help me

    What bike? The bolt is really a bypass valve as well. The washer looking thing is a flange on the head ane may be holding it in place still.

    This is a very common problem. If you can post up a picture and we can help you get it off.

    Once you get it off, you should get spin off adaptor from Chacal. It'll make life easier.

    the bike is a 83 yamaha 750 i have drilled out the bolt it is still stuck on

    Post up a pic so we can see what's going on. Like I said the "bolt" is a bypass valve, it is a big hollow tube. The head on it looks like a bolt head and washer but is a big flange assembly. If the washer part is still there it is holding your filter housing. You have to carefully cut it away to avoid damaging the housing. The treads are on the far end of the valve at the engine block.

    A search on filter bolt will yield many posts on grinding this part away. This is a very common problem

    rick and I had to drill my secas out. got so bad we HAD to destroy the housing. like he mentioned above, post a pic so we can help you get it done right.

    thank you to everyone for the info i have now got it unstuck grinded off the washer and off it came

    Great - you can get a replacement by PMing our local parts guru Chacal or off ebay. Don't go to a dealer they want $50 for it you should get it for about $15.

    Make sure you torque the new one properly and use anti seize. then you won't have a repeat
