    Hi,
I can't seem to find the thin type rubber fuel line like the factory used. I have purchaced fuel lines from Yamaha in the past for more than I should have.
I'm trying to get this 1100 up and running and the PO used clear plastic fuel line which now is hard as a rock. I went to Napa and picked up some 1/4" fuel line and its bigger around than original and the clamps don't fit anymore. I really don't want to use the screw type clamps> I don't think I should just shove the lines on and leave it either.

I'm just trying to get an idea of what everyone else is doing.
    Thanks

Short of paying the dealers prices I think you'll have to stick with automotive fuel line. I use it in almost everything and do use the screw type clamps.

Hey MN, besides the factory fuel line, there is really nothing else out there that is AS thinwall as that factory stuff. I do carry some replacement fuel hose that is just a tad thicker (OD) than the original, and have the correct spring-clamps to use with it.

I use the stuff chacal carries and I'm very happy with it. Auto parts store 1/4" line is TOO chunky for my taste...

think lawn tractor repair, hobby shop (1/4 scale planes use 2 stroke gas)
i use 1/4 inch car stuff without a clamp
if you cut the line at a 45 it makes getting it off much easier

A couple of years ago I picked up a spool of metric fuel line. I think it was six mm. Got it through some mail order outfit, JCW or Harbor or some such type of site. It pushes on tight and hard and I think it would stay there but I use the ratchet type plastic clamp just for safety. Wish I had bought three or four of them spools. It had about 15 meters of tubing on it as I recall and is about gone by now. I could be more definate but the label fell off it somewhere along the line. Anyway, the first bike I put the stuff on was my XS11 and I just gave her the spring checkover and them lines are like the first day yet. Sorry, I can't even give you a brand name cause it was on that label too.

    M Maxim,
I just replaced my fuel line with the stuff I got from a small engine repair shop here. They also sold me the little spring clamps that hold it tight to the petcock. They sell those little spring clamps at hardware stores but you have to search sometimes. We have an Ace hardware about 3 miles away that carries them. They fit perfect on the thicker 1/4" line too. The stock ones seem to get weak and lose the spring in them over the years. I think you can get a hand full without breaking the bank!!
I grabbed 4 extras for future projects and put them in with all my "you-just-never-know" parts.

There's no pressure on these lines, so need for a clamp is small.
I use the spring clip type on the fuel filter but the vacume and petcock hoses are just pushed on.
Never have come off in fact it's a problem to get them off with the tank on.

I picked up mine at Oreilly. The stuff they have on the floor is too thick. I asked, and they have 1/4" fuel line behind the counter that is thin and works perfectly. It has a yellow tint but is clear enough so that you can see gas in the line.

I tried the clear (yellow or blue) stuff too, but the spring clamps are too lose to hold it tight. It works with screw clamps however.

I picked up a clamp assortment from BikeBandit, and they work with the yellow fuel line I use. I didn't use the stock clamps.

I pulled my clamps from this assortment.

And don't forget that I sell the correct style "spring" clamps to fit both the original and all of those aftermarket fuel lines...........:D
