starting problems

    hello, started having problems with my xj1100 maxim the other day. will not start without a boost. i have charged it up says is good but when i try to start it it just clicks. is this probably a dead battery issue. i am not a mechanic and no way to get it to one. i think the battery is old but i am unsure as i just bought the bike last year. please help as i miss my ride

    pull the battery and take it to autozone or the like, have them test it. If its bad, replace it. Seems a likely candidate to me.

    Yeah. Probably cant hold a load. Thats one of the first steps when you get any new vehicle! Plugs, battery, oil change, fuel filter.

    also pull the cover and check your brushes there is a wear line and a wear limit 10mm I believe is the minimum. But if the battery looks old it probably is. Did you pull the battery over the winter and keep it charged up? Even with a new battery this to me is a must in any long period of storage.
