Not 100% sure yet, but considering selling my 1980 Maxim 650. Put quite a bit of money and time into her in the past year. She's only got 10,314 miles. Work I've done or had done includes rebuilding the starter, rebuilding the front forks, replacing front brake pads, replacing fuse panel with new style, removing and replacing a stuck oil filter bolt, replacing air filter, replacing a broken exhaust collar, changing fluids, replacing burnt out bulbs, painting tank and side covers (side covers are good, but tank apparently has some pin hole leaks now which means it needs fixed and repainted), replaced throttle and clutch cables, replaced front brake switch, sent carbs off to the famous RickCoMatic of this site for cleaning and repair, replaced stock coils with the expensive dyna coils, new wires and plugs, battery is less than 2 years old I believe, replaced some other small pieces like side cover grommets. I've been working on getting the bike tuned since getting the carbs back from Rick. Purchased a color tune which I'll include with the bike. Bike runs solid when warm, but I'm having some issues getting it started and running cold. I actually think the battery might be bad because it was dead once when I had to start it, but it push started right up.

I'm living here in the Kansas City area now, and after a near collision with a minivan that decided to stop right in my path, I'm in the mood to get a newer Yamaha with a more modern braking system for riding in this traffic. With all the new parts and time I've invested in this bike I'm hoping someone will be interested, and if so just let me know, or shoot me some offers. Oh, the bike will also come with mufflers from an '07 Harley Sportster 1200 to replace the ones that a previous owner removed the baffles from.

Not really for sure how much yet. Part of my reason for this post was to see how much I might get offered or what people thought it was worth. At least enough to make a decent down payment on a newer used bike of my friends.

Thanks for the offer darkangel. I'm looking to get a little more than that out of it at the moment just because of all the money I have on it in new parts, but if I get desperate for the money I'll send you a message. Oh, I also just remembered that I rebuilt the fuel petcock too.

Hate to say it but a 100% bike has been fetching no more the $1,200 on most of the open markets from my research. Anything less than factory new would be a $1,000 bike. Just my $0.02

Easier than making a new post, I've still got the bike. First $1000 cash takes her home.

Im in wichita, and looking for a 650 maxim. my price range was a lot lower, but it looks like you put alot of work into this bike. (looks great)

So the Tank needs to be repaired and there could be something wrong with the battery correct? What about the tires, are those in good/bad condition? You also said something about a fight with a mini van? Any cosmetic damage from that? Current miles would be helpfull aswell.

    Thanks
    Ender

I believe the battery just needed charged. After doing that, it's worked fine since. Tank does need repaired though. Tires are plenty good enough to ride on, but I'd recommend replacing them pretty soon. It was first on my list of things to do as soon as I got the bike in tip top running condition. I believe mileage is pretty close to 11,000. Bike has been stored in my brothers garage across town over the winter, so I need to go pull it out and check where I ended at. I didn't actually get in a fight with the minivan, just pretty close. I thought I did some pretty good riding for a novice. Locked the tires up slid sideways a bit and managed to barely ride around the corner of the van without laying the bike down or hitting the van. Scary experience though. Anything else you need to know, just let me know.
