Bike was a 'yard find' a year ago last Christmas. Since then, I've done a great deal of work and have returned her to a road worthy state.

    Current Issues:
Bike will jump out of 1st gear if pushed to hard. If you do not 'jack rabbit' start, she's fine.
Bike will 'pop' from the right side exhaust until warm, mixture issue I believe. Runs like a raped ape once warm.
Bike does need some fine tuning.
Small oil leak around CAM chain tensioner.

    Work I've done: (see pics)
New paint on tank, wheels, and side covers. Not showroom perfect, but pretty nice for a 'garage job'.
New Kenda tires front and back. Tires have 1,000 miles on them with loads of tread left.
Complete carb rebuild including seals, intake manifolds, jets, etc.
    Both petcocks completely rebuilt.
Both master cylinders rebuilt complete with new sight glasses.
    All brake calipers rebuilt.
All brake lines replaced with SS lines courtesy of Chacal.
    All new brake pads.
New throttle, clutch, and choke cables.
New coils, wires, caps, and plugs.
    New battery.
    New windshield and mirrors.
    New fork seals.
Many parts powder coated including control housings, calipers, rotors, side covers etc.

Bike will come with a set of 4 PODS as well as a YICS Tool.

Please feel free to PM or emial me with any questions.

    Thank you.

Is Kansas a title state, that is do you have it registered in Kansas?

    Great_Buffalo,

Yes, Kansas is a title state so without a title I'm unable to register the bike. I've had the VIN ran by a Sheriff friend of mine and found that it has not been registered for for the last 10 years. The report also shows it has not been reported stolen or involved in any accidents. I was unable to find the previous owner and seriously thought of goint the Title Company route but since this is just one of three I figured I could use the room in the garage more!

Looks like a nice bike there Chad. Too bad you don't have the title.

All these older bikes need is some TLC. Amazing what a bucket of soapy water and some good ol' SOS pads can do! ;-)

Where in Kansas are you located because I'm over in the Manhattan area and wouldn't mind seeing if I could get over to see it?

I saw that on Craigslist today. I was wondering if it belonged to someone here. The add showed a little more knowledge than most XJs on craigslist show. Great looking bike. I sent the ad on to a friend of mine who is looking.

When using a title service, don't you run the risk of someone who has the title saying "Hey! That's my bike and I want it back!" ?

Even if the bike hasn't been reported stolen?

Or does the title hunting agency perform the legwork to show a chain of sale so that the person can't do that? I mean, I'd hate to pay $1k for a bike only to have a PO show up and snatch it away from me.

In the state of SD you can get a form and send a registared letter to the last title holders last known adress. If he responds you can take the matter up with him/her then. If it is returned not at that adress you can submit for a new title. I've done this twice, once for a car and once for a boat.
