Are you in the U.S.? My understanding is that any XJ 750s produced after '83, were for non-US markets and were called the "Diversion". That thing is COOL. It looks a lot like a 900.

I think the bike is going through an identity crisis. The Vin tells me that it's an 1984 and it's a xj750. although somebody told me that the front fairing is off a xj600. An I live in ottawa, Canada

In Canada (and Australia, New Zealand) there was a 1984 XJ750RL Seca that had the 750 engine in the 900 frame/body. The VIN should read JYA44X00.........

Only 600 made, rare bike, nice looking!

I believe that the fairing, etc. is the same as the XJ900RK models.........in fact, most of the body and frame parts are (not that those items are so easy to come by......!). Engine parts are easy, as they are all stock 750 engine parts, should have Hitachi carbs on it, etc. There may be a few Very Unique Parts that are specific to that model, but not as many as you might think.

Thanks, The Vin# is exactly that, so what is the benefit of putting a 750 on a 900 frame?
So basically i can pretty much use any xj fairing? what about the instrument cluster?

As far as the "benefit", I assume it had to do with emissions or insurance issues from a marketing standpoint, I haven't read any factual information as to why that particular model was offered.

You would need to use the proper XJ900 fairing. The bracket that you have is the "larger" fairing mounting bracket.

The instrument cluster is pure XJ900..............only!

I have the fairing and the bracket for that bike ... same color ... larger type fairing. I was thinking of mounting it on my bike (an older XJ750) but the older style tank doesn't quite look as good as it would on your bike.
If your interested I'll send a picture to you.

I Have a lot of fun driving it, i'm pretty much limited to driving it during the day, but i Had NO IDEA that i had a Rare bike, Cool.
In that case i would like it to keep the bike as oem as possible.

Let me know if any of you have a Instrument cluster that looks like this

    Damn!
    You learn something new everyday.
I too looked at it and said he doesn't know what he's talking about that's a 900 but, it clearly says 750 on the side.
I never saw a 900 with that paint scheme either.
    I like it.
    Nice find.

Dude, if Len is right and only 600 were made, I'd hold onto that bike forever and not modify it. It doesn't matter if it'll ever accrue in value. You own a piece of motorcycle history. Keep it!

I speak from experience, as I own a DeLorean...one of about 6,000 remaining in the world.

I have 2 of the XJ750RL's. Just took one for it's first ride yesterday. Is a great bike to ride. The fairing off a FJ600 is what your looking for. You will have to change the paint scheme to match the bike as the FJ one has a couple of colors reversed. The 900 fairing is different. It is smaller. The 900 Seca instrument cluster is the same you would just have to swap out the speedo if yours still works as the 900 one reads in miles. A FJ600 cluster looks the same except it doesn't have the clock so not sure about the wiring. I have all the parts your looking for but won't part with them as I need them for my second XJ750RL as it is in rough shape. Found them all on e-bay. Have pics in my profile of both. Information I have found say's there was 900 of them made. 700 came to Canada and the other 200 went to Australia. Made one year only, 1984. Welcome and enjoy the bike. Oh , almost forgot. Everything from the tank back is the same as a Seca 900 but the 750 used different forks. Slightly smaller in diameter I do believe. Some of them also had a little spoiler under the engine which looked quite sharp but both my bikes are missing them. :D

If you haven't already you can set up a search on E-bay for Seca 900 and FJ600 parts and it will e-mail you every day when there is new listings. That's what I did. It took a few months but did find everything I was missing. Didn't find any of the parts in the listings for XJ750's. Good luck.

I've got the "guts" (housing, fuel gauge) from an FJ600 cluster that is the same physical shape as that, I don't have the glass or top cover unfortunately. If you need the (white plastic inner) cluster housing, you can have it for the cost of shipping IF it will be worth it.

Just checked and there is a FJ600 fairing on E-bay right now. Needs some work and paint but looks usable. Has some aftermarket lights on it that would need to come off. Windshield shouldn't be too hard to find.

So did you win the fairing on E-bay? Wish my extra instrument cluster was in better shape but it's in worse shape than yours. I will keep my eye's open for one though.

Make sure you post some updated pics when you get the missing pieces on. I would be interested in seeing it fixed up.
