ok so i am thinking its time to get the tires done.... i have racked up 4500 miles on these since i bought the bike... the tred seemed soft so i diddnt worry too much about them ... either these are made of concrete or they arent showing any wear... now i do my share of corner carving but on the first 30miles of my inbound daily commute its srtaight up and down... my other thought is i have only felt the tire get sticky once at 98 degrees F after 45 miles. I remember my other bikes tires getting sticky at lower temps and over same or shorter distances. not only that but these look to be s / t rated so they should be getting sticky especially after loger rides.

    What i am running:
Promaxx street 100/90-19 manufactured in 2004
Cheng shin tire 130-90-16 manufactured in 2005

i am trying to find if anyone has had the same issues i have Price vs Quality. And where to buy? i have heard that the Avons are great rain tires but i need a good all around tire.

I have only found a few with good reviews and the come with a nice price tag $$$
    Battlax BT-45 H-Rated
    Dunlop D401HD
    Dunlop D206

    +1 on the Bridgestone Spitfires.

I put them on over the winter and have liked them so far.

Put Spitfires on my Seca 650 and am very pleased. Work well on rain groves and have dual compound tread to help prevent uneven ware. Used them on a trip to Barber from Michigan last year 1750 miles 2 days in the rain and sport touring locally. Very good tire at very resonable price.

Whoa. '04 and '05? You do need new tires.

PO had just put Dunlop D404's on my '81 Seca 550 right before I got it. I've run Dunlops for the last 30+ years, and these are no disappointment at all. Very good tire, and not super-expensive.

I just put Avon AM26 RoadRiders on my '83 and they are nothing short of AWESOME. Not as prohibitively expensive as they used to be thanks to the world economic downturn, they were only a total of $12 more for the set than D404's would have been.
