Right now I just have 1 key for my bike. Looking at eBay, I think I can get a code and order blank keys. Does anyone know where on the bike I can find the key code?

I don't know what you have for a bike but my local Ace Hardware had the blanks and made the duplicate for me.

    It's a 1982 XJ650 Maxim. I can give Ace a try. Home-Depot didn't have them though.

My local Ace store does not have them. I use a local locksmith. I even had my dad ship me the keys to his CB360 because he could find anyone around where he lived that had spares.

The only places that the key code is located are:

    a) on an original key that came with the bike.....

    b) on the bottom of the ignition switch HOUSING, either engraved into the housing on or a little foil decal that, hopefully, han't gone walkabout after all these years......

Depending on your model, you MIGHT be able to use a small mirror and a strong flashlight and see that marking on the bottom of the switch on your bike without removing the switch.........

    c) perhaps on the original sales invoice or paperwork.

'80s Yamaha key blanks come in A-F, all you need to know is which one you need. I got my blanks from chacal, but when I took them to a local locksmith he said it really wasn't necessary since he also carries them.
