Im a big fan of the maxims not so much of the secas. Interested in everyones opinion on each bike and to see how many maxims or secas owners are on the forum!

Dont get me wrong the Secas are very nice bikes but the Maxims to me are just more comfortable and stylish. :)

I love my Seca. I'm just not much of a cruiser kind of guy. I prefer my standards. Plus I really like the tanks.

Have you ever ridden a seca cly_adams? I actually find standards more comfortable than cruisers but I must say I have never ridden a maxim.

Height could have a lot to do with it. I'm 6ft and all legs. It isn't a problem for me. One of the PO's of the bike was about 5'6" or 5'7". I have no clue how he even rode the thing. His toes could barely touch the pavement.

*edit: whoops 6'6" woudn't have and any trouble touch. Got the height changed.

5'8" and it aint much in the legs. Still touch just fine, but have thought that a lowering of about an inch would be good also...

Of course this only effects you when your standing still ;)

I'm 6'5" and a Maxim would put my knees in my ears. I'm perfectly comfortable on the 550 Seca once I got rid of the seat strap.

I like my Maxim but at 5'11" with a 32" inseam, I wish my seat was a couple inches further back. I recently bought an old seat pan and am going to try my hand at crafting a more comfortable seat.

I'm 5' 9", have a 32" inseam and my 550 Seca fits me just fine. I voted for the Seca, because mine's the right height for me to comfortably stand flat-footed at a stoplight with it and the upright riding position's pretty comfortable too.

Having said that though, I've never ridden a Maxim, so I can't make an accurate comparison between the two bikes.

I like my maxim for putting around town, or going on long two up rides.

I would love to have a 650 turbo seca. I have never been able to find one that hasn't been butched beyond repair. Mostly parts bikes. Seems like the guys who bought the Seca's rode them to death here in this part of the country. The Maxims however seem to have made it into some garages and pop out from time to time with low miles.

Heh, the upright position of my seca prompted me to nix the stock bars in favor of drag bars, leans me over and makes the thing turn on a dime.

My two cents is seca, but i've never ridden a maxim, and honestly I hardly think my bike represents a "stock handling and riding" seca anymore.

We seem to have the opposite effect here. Maxims are hard to find unbutchered and/or reasonably priced.

I love my max but may switch to a slightly more forward euro style bar at six feet i find I slouch and it gets a little rough on the back I love the way both bikes look but think the seca would likely be a better fit for me but when I was shopping it was the max I found!

In the years before I actually bought a motorcycle, I always envisioned myself as a hard-core heavy cruiser fan. Harley-Davidson or bust.

I have absolutely fallen in love with my old Seca. I love the rush of acceleration that it provides. I love the styling. I'm not saying that the Maxim is a bad bike, it's just not my thing. Now, I find myself looking at the Yamaha evolution of sportbikes from the Seca onward. I'm definitely a VMAX fan. I'd own one in a second and I might soon.
