    Hello folks,

Betwn the Maxim X & Maxim (aircoold), other than the few HP difference and ofcourse liq cooling, Whats the difference in performance and maintanence..Is air cooled easier to maintain.?
Like i see the shims to be done for Maxim X during valve adjustment..does same apply for aircooled (2 valves).??

    Thanks

As far as performance the specs for these show that the "X" is just a tiny bit faster than the "S". I cannot find these specs on the internet right now but will post them if I do see them again.

I have both (although I now use parts form the water-cooled for the air-cooled) and the maintainence on these appears to be about the same.

I'd say go for the X, but I'm partial.

Maintenance may be similar except for the obvious liquid cooled. However, there is one BIG difference. When it comes to valve time, there are 20 of them to check and adjust. Small price for the thrill of the X.

If you want the specs, check out...

Thanks joefriday, I am aware of these 5 valve per cyl against 2val per cyl.
When it comes to valve adj, they say you have to do the shims, does that apply to the non X model also. ?? Thanks

For the X, the shims are under the bucket. I haven't had to do it yet, but I understand you have to pull the cams. For the non-X, I believe they the shims are on top of the bucket and can be pulled without removing the cams.
