    Hi Everyone,

Just bought my first bike (have been riding for years, but finally have a garage and have been told I cannot 'borrow' my cousins bike anymore :)).

I got a really nice condition 1982 XJ650 Seca. Just got it insured and took it for its first ride.

This is my first bike so I know I have alot to learn about maintenance and such, so I know I will be on here alot. Looks like a great community to be a part of.

    Holy COW, Clients,
I know digital cameras hide a lot of flaws, but that's not just a "really nice" XJ.
That thing is in incredible shape!!
Gonna be a lot of jealous patrons chiming in on this one.

    Welcome to the group.

Welcome - what a great looking bike! Very nice find - someone appears to have taken good care of it.

First thing is get yourself a manual. Then search the site for common maintenance. Before long you will be an expert on your bike.

Thanks Guys. Yea I think I got really fortunate. The seller kept it in awesome shape, not just mechanically, but as you can see, cosmetically as well! Even threw in a aftermarket windshield, cafe racer clubman bars, and a service manual :).

I am trolling through alot of the posts on here to get familiar with this bike in particular and have already have a ton of things I need to go through and read.

Now I just need to figure out a way to not sit here in the office reading the forum all day and actually do some work :)

Ahh... had me confused for awhile with the 82 650 with the YICS engine. Some more digging on the site said O' Cananda. Then I checked your sig...

As many have said, nice bike!

Wow, what a nice ride, have you got any niggles with it, or is it as sweet as it looks.
    Welcome. Wiz.

A niggle is a seemingly innocuous problem that leaves you feeling somewhat less that wholy satisfied with the performence of your vehicle.

DUDE, what a nice looking bike. Very clean and sharp looking. And welcome. I agree with the others, I spend half the day reading posts, thank goodness my boss is in Florida and I am in Utah.

Thanks everyone! I have only had the bike for a couple of days now, but I love it. Rides beautiful, looks great, what else can I ask for. Having a blast. Considering putting on the clubman cafe bars I got with the bike to give it more agressive look, but I think I might leave it completly stock for a time being and just enjoy it :)

For the bike, aftermarket windshield, cafe bars and certification it was around $1800 (cdn of course). Based on comparables over the last month or two, and the condition of this bike compared to the rest, I think it was a good deal. Some of the other bikes were cheaper, but I wanted to make sure I got something that was going to run nice while I get acustomed to maintaining a bike.

It's only been a couple of days, but I can't be on the bike enough!!
