    1st Question
My XJ 1100 head light doesnt come on all the time. It is a always on and goes off when you hit the starter button. Lately it does not come on when you turn the key on but does come on sometimes after running for a bit.
I have not upgraded the fuse box yet. Could that be the problem.
    2nd Question
What other XJ model parts will fit the 1100 as I have not been able to find any used 1100 parts. There are 650 and 750 parts bikes all over the net.
Will the 650 and 750 parts fit the 1100.

I don't know about your particular model, but most have a relay that eliminates the headlight from coming on until the engine is running (or atleast fires) It's just a small black square block inside the headlight housing. I assume that's what's wrong with your bike.

ok I found the answer to the first question its the OEM fuse box. tightened the clamps around the fuse and the headlight came on.

Was going to say that too, but you already got it!

That's something I have to replace while I wait on my carb parts O_O

Yup, go get you a blade type fuse block and get rid of those glass fuses. They're junk. Any auto store should have one that'll work.

The fuse block is under the RH side cover and it does not have the clearance like the 650 or 750's do. I got one from chacal and its longer than original so there are clearance problems. SO for now I just cut off that bad fuse holder and installed an ATC inline fuse holder for that one circiut. When I find something that will work I'll post it.
If your box is still good and the plastic is not melted like mine. The Radio Shack fuse holder has clips that will fit the stock box. You can cut the blade for the push on terminala and solider your wires on.

+1 on the Radio Shack fuse holders. They're almost a direct replacement for the fuse clips in the stock fusebox but amazingly, NOT CRISPY.

I would immediately attend to whichever fuse holder you "squeezed" it IS going to simply fall apart, on its own, for no apparent reason, and soon.

The "silver" fuseholders in the stock Yamaha fusebox are BRASS, plated over with whatever that silver is. Whatever it is, it appears to crystallize over time making the fuse holders very brittle. I learned this the hard way when I did it to myself, and discovered the RS fix because it was a beautiful Sunday and I wanted to get back on the road.

If you go to www.motogrid.com, they have IPB's with part numbers. By comparing particular part numbers between XJ1100 and other XJ models you can be sure of what parts are interchangable.

Also, in Chacal's catalog he often spells out which models a particular part will or won't fit.

Everyone says this, but NO parts stores here at least have in-line fuse blocks. All I can get are the wires with single fuse holders in them, and I'm not about to go THAT tacky of a route, personally. =)

Thank you gentlemen. I will go to Radio Shack and get the fuse holder and replace it this morning. What I'm trying to find is a new seat pan to redo with smaller pads but dont want to screw up the stock seat, I need the stock mufflers as the ones on it had the baffles cut out of them.

The Radio shack one is the Grey 4 fuse holder. Just use the clips if you can. The grey fuse holder is made for longer fuses. How good of mufflers are you looking for?

Keep an eye on the sale section in the next couple/few weeks, as my bike gets closer to finished, I get closer to my exhaust mods, and my mufflers will be offered up here once I know I don't need em anymore.

Edit: if someone has some obviously don't wait on me, I'm a slow poke :D

    Switch,
I Don't think your Seca mufflers will work and an 1100. I have a set that I can part with. I'll look them over and take a few pics and forward them to you Hardlucktx.
The ones I have as spares are I would say OK and useable but not show quality for sure.

I have run into the same situation here in Columbus. I hit every major, and some not so major, auto parts stores and couldn't find anything ... AutoZone, Advanced Auto, CarQuest, Napa, PepBoys ... not a single one. Same goes for the main motorcycle parts place in town, Iron Pony.

Is this the radioshack block you guys are talking about?
    http://www.radioshack.com/product/index ... Id=2062258

I thought the idea was to get away from glass fuses as WELL as better contacts?

If the fuses aren't a problem, I like this idea. Really cheap!
Keeps it looking 100% original too... hmm.
