I have a 82 750 Maxim. Went to take the bike out of storage for the winter today. I have put the Battery on the charger the last few times when I have have been in the garage. I threw it in turned on the key to make sure I had juice and to my disbelief nothing happened. When I take the test light I have Juice at the Main fuse UNTIL I turn on the key. Then I loose Juice at both the Bat and fuse. Does anyone have any ideas? The battery was new last year.

Check the battery voltage right at the battery when you turn yhe key on. Tell us what you see.

Two ideas based on reading other's problems and solutions.

1 - Corrosion in the ignition.
    2 - Fuse box problems.

Based on your description, #1 may be your problem. However, when you say you lose juice at the battery, do you mean that you get no reading when testing the + and - terminals? Have you checked your ground wire for corrosion?

Other things to check is if you can jump it across the solenoid. Have you checked the starter brushes lately? Not likely the cause, but just throwing out ideas.

If the voltage dropped to 2 volts its your battery. Check the water level. Refill with distilled water if low and trickle charge. If its older than a couple of years just get a new one. These small batteries don't last all that lnog anyway. No reason to look any further.

I am holding the test leads on the positive and negative of the battery when checking voltage. I will check the ground wire. And I am not losing voltage when I hit the start button I am losing it when I turn on the key. The "information center" does not come on at all. Which in the past with a bad battery would at least light up.

My friend had a similar problem on her V strom, I told her to look for a 30amp fuse near the starter solenoid...sure enough it was blown, put a new one in and all the power came back :)

I had a battery once that did the same thing. I some how over charged it and it would show 12.5 volts then turn the key on and drop to like 1.5 volts. I couldn't see anything by looking at it but It was toast for sure.

I was am in the same situation. Tests at 12v across the terminals, but drops to 1v when the key is turned on. Did getting a new battery fix it?
