Thanks! The good thing is my son is a painter and has done several custom jobs on his and his friends bikes.

How did you manage to score a free XJ1100, we need to hear this story. Nice bike looks to be in good shape.

I was at my cousins house helping him but a new exhuast on his v-star 1100. While cussing the the slip bolt on the new exhuast a guy from around the corner stopped by to see what we were doing. While chewing the fat ith him he asked if we knew of anyone looking for a bike. He said he had a 1982 Maxim XJ1100 in his garage it had been sitting a couple of years and was running when he parked it. I said I might be what did he want for it. He said if you get it out of my garage you can have it. So here it is in my garage and running like a top dont stop to well but runs like a scalded cat.

Doesn't stop? Is that "doesn't want to stop running" or "hard to slow down" ? If it is option #1, maybe it is running HOT? Like, pistons glowing red hot?

Very nice looking bike! And free is a very good price! Tha tank looks like the classic gas spill on non-fuelproof clear coat syndrome.

    Nuts!
