Ok, been thinking about the speedometer thing recently. And the whole gauge cluster thing... think these would work ok on a Seca 750? I have no problem making a whole new gauge cluster...

    Ehhh, they'd fit, yeah.

As far as an accurate reading though? No clue. After flipping through a couple of the installation guides I'd be hesistant. I'm not sure what the ratio on the 750 is, these gauges are 60mph/1000rpms.

Contact the manufacturer and ask, can't hurt.

the MPH would be off. XJs are calibrated to 2240 RPM= 60mph

    There's those numbers I couldn't find.

According to the installation guides you are able to recalibrate them to match your application.

A lot of work and amazingly expensive if you ask me, they look great though...sure to turn some heads.

That only goes to 120, too slow for Arizona. I used square 160MPH gauges from an XS1100. Bolted right on with no problem but had to remove the whole computer setup but it never worked anyway.

The XS1100 tach goes to 10K but you have to recalibrate the tach and fuel gauge for the Seca.

I hate the 80mph speedo. Hate it. The guy who came-up with that bright idea ought to have ridden the bike on Massachusetts 4-laners. All I know is that I'm going over 80 -- but how much is a mystery.

    Anybody got the 5th gear @ X-rpm = X-mph worked-out???

My redline is the same. If I got a tach, I'd get one that went up as high as my current one.

Yep Rick. I wote a program that does the calculations for you based on all your gearing ratios and final drive ratio.

Feel free to check it out. http://mop_one.tripod.com/SpeedCalc/index.html

Couple of screen shots of 650 speeds are HERE. The program has now been rewritten for shafties as well as chain drive.

    Hope it's useful.
    Cheers

ArizonaSteve. You mentioned recalibrating the fuel guage on the XS unit. Any more info on this? Reason I ask is I have an XS1100 that only reads a quarter tank when full. Got the required 7 volts etc. Was your recalibration just bending the sender arm or something more complicated.

Hired_Goon, the sender on the Seca has a different resistance than the 1100. The tach has a trimpot to adjust it but the fuel gauge doesn't so you have to add a resistor to make them match. The 1100 sender went from 10 ohms when full to 85 ohms empty but my 750 sender goes from 30 ohm full to 330 ohms empty so I needed to put a resistor in parallel with the sender to bring the resistance down to the same range. A 150 ohm resistor connected across the sender to ground worked on the 750. If your sender has a different resistance you may need to calculate a different value of resistance.
