OK guys, need some help with symptons here.....

Did a good carb clean over the winter (not my first with the old girl)
When I started her up for the first time, had some leaking in one carb bowl.... outside of that, started fine after a few cranks to get fuel going.... and idled GREAT .... best I had yet.....

OK, so back to the carbs... had some float issues, or valve issues it seemed...... so I adjusted a bit , tested with rubbing alcholol and got no leaking... so I tried again...
Got her to start .... leaked for a second, tapped a bowl and it stopped....

Took her for a test run and got this..... loss of power as I cranked the throttle..... and rolling off the throttle and re-applying she struggled, like fuel starvation perhaps?

Another float check, best I can... drain screws are still stuck, easy outs on carbs ended poorly for me last time :)
Noticed some floaties in the bowls... turns out the alcholol we grabbed was crappy 50% stuff.... not sure where the odd floaties came from.... almost gel like... so I clean up, enrichment ports and jets again...

Get things looking good, floats are set back to original levels.... and a bit of tweaking as one had a slight arc in it causing it not to make good contact with the float valve.... match it to the other....

Install the carbs and no leaking... BUT, now I can't get here to start...
And to top it off, my battery isn't holding a good charge, making diagnostics painful at best...

While trying all this my new carb bowl gaskets came in... so I'm thinking yet another good full carb clean, anything else I should check....while I'm at it, a bit concerned by the lack of response after rolling off the throttle and reapplying...... mind you at this point just getting here started again is job one

That could be your problem. These bikes act...difficult without a good battery. See if it will bump start.

Well ... just for Rick ....

"Carbs, Carbs, it's always the carbs!!"

Apparently there was either something in the alcohol I used or it created a reaction with something, but I found gunk in 1 on my enrichment ports... definitely aided in the no starting and in the emulsion tubes ( poor throttle response) .... removed that... added me new bowl gaskets and got the battery up to a good charge level... and cleaned the plugs as well and had her out for a good run feeling good.

Now to see if the battery charge is going to hold , Going to need a need a
new battery but the budget says not for a week or 2 ....
