When holding the start button it will turn over nice and fast, but will only sound like it tries to start when i let go of the button and it still has momentum of the starter... am i loosing a coil? I tried another fully charged battery and it does the same thing.

I cleaned up the inside of the starter... made a big difference in starter speed, but still same thing.

    Thanks

Something must be drawing too much power, because that sounds like a bad battery. Possibly bad connection?

Yup, I'd replace the battery. try putting a charger on the battery for a while and then see what happens.

check / clean your contacts from battery to the solenoid and from the solenoid to starter

I take it this is caused by voltage dropping too low to get spark from the coils when cranking?

Im thinking it might be corrosion because even with a different battery and the battery charger going it doesnt help too much... ill inspect more connections and let you guys know

turtlemann, you got it.. an inline fuse holder got doused in battery acid and was very corroded... re hooked up battery drain hose and replaced fuse holder and fuse, and everything is great now... the old fuse fell apart when i pulled it out
