    I really do...
I have a stable of other bikes, of all persuasions, and the Maxim is still the one that puts the most consistent smile on my face. Not only that, It's the bike that has given me the least amount of mechanical grief. I have the least amount of money sank into it, and it makes long two up rides a pleasure.

Something about the maxims and the secas - they put a smile on your face.

I agree. Every time I ride, I am amazed by the performance, the smooth purr of the motor, the reliability, the overall riding pleasure. This is my first bike, and I feel that I could not have made a better choice. I was just telling a friend yesterday, "I may get a bigger bike someday, but there's no need to at this time. I am perfectly happy with this one."

Yes, a bigger maxim.... go for the XJ750 :) Not that I think there is that much difference in performance.. but as a guy isn't bigger always better. :)

I love my little 750. It's just so much fun to ride. I have bigger bikes, but that seems to be the one I ride the most because it's light, comfortable and fast.
It seems most are trading up for a bigger bike (I guess to keep up with the times ...or the other bikes? But there's alot to be said about these middle weights for sure.

I love all of my Maxims. I also have never hopped on a Seca to compare the difference either. I hope to do so one of these days so I can compare. I really like going for long rides on the 1100. Getting around here in town the 650 or any of the 750's do the job nicely.

    Ron,
The only difference in the Maxim and Seca is mostly the seating position. They both perform about the same. Being the Maxim has a small rear wheel (16" vs 18" on the Seca) so it has better take off ( but gets shittier mileage) just looks better I guess.
Most say the Seca is the first of the sport bikes (crotch rocket) but don't quote me on that. I'm sure there are others who claim the title also. It's just an upright seating position and doesn't really melt my wax for the long haul (me personally) but some like it.

My maxim is my best friend currently. She's always there when I need something to do, or get my mind away from.. whatever! I can touch her, play with her peices parts, and ride her hard and fast and she never complains. Gotta love my favorite toy

Actually I was thinking along the line of an XS1100, or maybe an FJR1300, or a Venture Royale, Or if I win MegaMillions, a Royal Star. :D But as I said, I'm quite happy for now. But a guy can always dream, right?

ya you can dream!! I to love my max but when the money gets better I think I could learn to love a 1250 bandit!! not as a replacement of course just a highway bike something with a little more power for touring and a better luggage system, I don't think I'll ever get rid the the max

I believe the 600cc bike is the biggest seller for all the manufactures because of the power to weight ratio, most of my bikes have been in that range with the last 2 being the exception which are my current bike the 1100 and my last bike which was a ZG1000 concours > I am in the "special needs" minority though, only because i am 6,3 and over 300 pounds (or 21 stone to my m8's in the empire) 8O :D  . i loved my GS I loved my CB i loved my LTD I loved my Virago I loved my Concours and i love my XJ1100 ....as long as your happy who cares what it is :)

Not the 550's. The Seca has hotter cams and is a tad quicker. The seating/riding position IS the biggest difference; the frames are slightly different as are the "numbers" (rake & trail.) The Max is definitely a "cruiser."

It really was, especially if you go back to the XJ400, from whence the 500/550/600 sprang. The 550 Seca was the first "middleweight" sport bike in the US with SERIOUS performance; when it came out it was the equal of the 750s from just a year previous. Within 2 years all the other major manufacturters had followed suit.

BOTH "families" of XJs were significant; the Seca in leading the modern "crotch rocket" revolution; and the Maxim in introducing the "power cruiser" concept to the world.

The original Seca was a good concept and it's still around; but if I want one of these I have to move to Australia...
